Published:

Srinagar Police took decisive action on Tuesday, attaching immovable property valued at roughly ₹1.20 crore belonging to notorious drug peddler Nisar Ahmad Sheikh as part of the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan initiative. This operation falls under the ongoing 100 Days Campaign aimed at combating drug abuse in the region.

The police executed this attachment in compliance with Section 68-F of the NDPS Act. The action stemmed from an investigation linked to FIR No. 61/2019, which involves violations under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act. The property seized includes a fully renovated three-storey residential house, a separate single-storey concrete kitchen block with three washrooms, and additional land measuring 09 marlas.

Nisar Ahmad Sheikh, son of Habibullah Sheikh, is a resident of Kani Dewar, Sheikh Mohallah in Hawal, Srinagar. Reports from the police indicate that Sheikh acquired the property through revenues generated from illicit drug trafficking.

The police underscored the rigorous legal processes undertaken to label these assets as illegally held and to execute their attachment under the provisions of the NDPS Act. This operation signifies the unwavering commitment of Srinagar Police to dismantle the financial infrastructure supporting drug networks and to eradicate the narcotics menace from society.

In light of these developments, authorities have expressed their determination to intensify efforts against drug peddlers in the region. They have called on the public to assist in these efforts by sharing relevant information about drug abuse and trafficking incidents.

This crackdown not only focuses on individual perpetrators but also looks to create a broader societal shift towards awareness and prevention of drug-related issues.

As part of the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir initiative, the police and local authorities aim to strengthen community ties while addressing the serious challenge of narcotics in Jammu and Kashmir. The initiative symbolizes a concerted effort towards ensuring a safer and drug-free society.

The success of such operations relies heavily on community cooperation and vigilance. Police have encouraged citizens to come forward with any tips or leads that could assist in combating drug-related crimes.
