In the realms of melody, Krithikha S, born in 2001 to P Subramanian and Prema, emerges as a shining star in a family steeped in musical tradition. From a tender age of one month, she exhibited an innate affection for music, setting the stage for a remarkable singing career.
Initiating her Carnatic tutelage at the age of 3 under her grandmother’s guidance, Krithikha embraced the conventional methods that laid a strong foundation for her musical prowess. By the age of 8, she delved into the intricate realms of both Carnatic and Hindustani music, gracing Carnatic concerts nationwide from the age of nine, amassing a rich legacy of over 300 performances.
Simultaneously trained in film songs, Malayalam poem recitation, and diverse musical forms, Krithikha’s versatility knows no bounds. Her accolades include numerous prizes in school and college competitions, clinching the ‘Bhavans Jyothi Kalathilakam’ title thrice consecutively in the prestigious all Kerala Bhavans school kalolsavam competitions.
Her musical journey reached new heights when the legendary Dr. K J Yesudas honored her with the ‘Tanpura’ award in 2017 at Tripunithura. A recipient of the CCRT scholarship for 10 years in vocal music from the Ministry of Culture, she is recognized as an All India Radio graded artist in vocal Carnatic and light music.
Krithikha’s melodic prowess extends beyond the classical domain; she secured a place in the Top 50 of Indian Idol Season 11 and became a playback singer in Malayalam movies from a very young age, contributing to films like “Merikkundoru Kunjadu,” “Janapriyan,” “Durgamati,” and “Tholvi FC.”
Having lent her voice to various ads, jingles, and Malayalam movie songs, Krithikha’s journey continues. A graduate in Hindustani music from Akhila Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mumbai, she is currently pursuing post-graduation in Carnatic music from Maharajas College, Kochi.
Krithikha has transcended geographical boundaries, enchanting audiences worldwide as a singer and performer in stage shows. Her future aspirations include earning a Ph.D. in Music, clinching national and state awards, deepening her musical knowledge, and venturing into playback singing in different languages across India and the world. Krithikha S stands as a testament to the universal language of music, appreciated by millions of viewers in India and beyond.
